Pizarro´s Necklace 2

The artifact is supernal.

I have spent most of this year studying it. The message conveyed by it, still beyond my grasp.

Its powers I have studied thoroughly in hopes of knowing the truth behind its design and the purpose for its existence in our world.

Light of Permanence.

The medallion can cause an area surrounding it to display features proper of aging in living beings or corruption in non organic substances. In other organic things (like foodstuffs) the illusion will show the substance in an advanced state of decay.

The degree of apparent decay might vary, responding to factors I do not know yet. In some scenarios this will be subtle enough to require someone initiated in the Mysteries to be able to perceive. In its most powerful manifestation this will be even evident to the average sleeper.

Fortunately there is a single recorded event were that happened.

A useful application of this attribute I have found, in evaluating art and jewelry. As often, higher quality materials will have visible differences with other not so good substances.

In this same approach, I have been able to uncover that enchanted or supernal things, do not "age" as quickly as their mundane counterparts. Being immediately outstanding in the light of the artifact as healthy and integrous next to all the decay. The same is true for other, non human beings.

This, being the most evident power of the artifact makes me believe that the purpose of it is to "shed light" into our world as to tell apart what is lasting and what is not. Perhaps this is a tool to seek something in particular.

Other World Compass.

By forcing myself into the pattern of the artifact, I was able to engage the locking mechanism of it. It was a tiresome effort and I feared for the well being of my very soul, as the device has proven a close relation to the realm of the dead and its powers still await to be activated in full.

It was obvious to me that the fate of this device, has yet to be fulfilled.

Fortunately I have not yet faced any event that would indicate retribution for a breach of fate. I will tread more carefully from now on. As I fear the strength of the binding.

Yet this action allowed me to understand another power embedded into this locket. It provides for a worldly compass, and its equivalent in other realms.

While I have yet to understand in full all the information it provides regarding one´s surroundings in the different planes, I have been able to successfully use it to traverse the realm of shadows as well as trust its guidance in the subtle plane.

This continues to suggest that the device is meant to be used to find something. What that might be, I still don't know.
